Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Release

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Release

The remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic was undoubtedly one of the most surprising games revealed in 2021. A new teaser trailer from Aspyr confirmed that a new iteration of the classic RPG is in development for PlayStation 5 and will be released in September 2021. While Aspyr had not committed to any sort of release date at the time, a new report has recently surfaced that may reveal when the game will hit shop shelves.

According to a recent article published by Bespin Bulletin, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake could be released next year, in 2023. The report in question detailed a number of upcoming Star Wars video games, including LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga and the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, both of which are expected to be released later this year. Looking further down the road, this report stated that the remake of KOTOR would “hopefully” be released next year, following the release of the other two games.

It’s difficult to say how likely this release window for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake is right now. When Aspyr first revealed the concept a few months ago, it made it clear that it was still in the early stages of development. As a result, 2023 appears to be an early target date for the game’s release. However, because this is a remake rather than a completely new game, production on KOTOR may go more quickly.

For the time being, the only certainty is that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake will be exclusive to PlayStation 5. Despite the fact that this game isn’t owned by PlayStation, the publisher grabbed up exclusive rights for the remake, ruling out a release on other consoles for the time being. This will almost certainly change in the future, as the PS5 exclusivity is just temporary.
